History
Philippe Hartheiser initially held a meeting in Singapore on the 18th November 2004 to discuss the possibility of setting up a local section of the IRSE.
That meeting led to the formation of a provisional committee with the remit to seek permission from the IRSE UK Council and to register the section with the Singaporean government.
The provisional officers were Phillipe Hartheiser (Chairman), Ian Tomlins (Vice Chairman / Secretary) and David Quastel (Treasurer).
The IRSE (Singaporean Section) was subsequently formed in 2005 and was registered in Singapore by the Singapore Registry of Societies on 22/9/2005. It is registered as the "Institution of Railway Signal Engineers (Singaporean Section)" and the registration number is 1068/2005.
The officials were Phillipe Hartheiser (Chairman), Ian Tomlins (Vice Chairman), Julian Danton (Secretary) and David Quastel (Treasurer).
In the same year the Singaporean Section jointly organised, with the Australian Section, the very ambitious and successful 2½ day inaugural Convention "Embracing the Technologies".
